Architecture System and Management

To reform a clear construction system, to train engineers with professional ethics

The project process consists of programming, design, construction, and maintenance. Good design works are based on efficient programming. Well-managed construction jobs will bring an excellent building. The building should be clearly demolished after operation and maintenance.

Our group deals the total construction system and management through the project process as mentioned above.

The main topics of the research are:
Methodology of planning and management in building construction projects,
International comparison on project management,
Integration of design and construction. The project process consists of programming, design, construction, and maintenance. Good design works are based on efficient programming. 4. Building Information Modeling (BIM) Implementation Strategy

This research aims to overview Building Information Modeling (BIM) implementation and to clarify the problems concerned with BIM in Japan. The hot topics with BIM, e.g. BIM implementation guidelines and pilot projects operated by MLIT (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism) and other public sector will be investigated at first. Then the names of BIM software and their vendors popular in Japan will be listed as well the typical implementation in large architects firm and major general contractor in Japan. We will discuss the problems on project management to show the strategy to develop the new version of BIM, hoping to share the value with all of the stakeholders of the project.

5.  Innovation in Building Construction System

It comes to the important mission for Japanese universities to accelerate the innovation by industrial liaison. There can be found large projects supported by Government in life science, chemistry, material science, nano-technology, electronics, ICT, and so on. However, focusing on architectural engineering or building construction, it is not enough known to public that there are many collaboration. We would like to propose the methodology to influence the real construction projects by sharing the knowledge about industrial liaison and innovation among researchers and engineers in every field.
